Fostering Cognitive Development in Toddlers at Merrydale Childcare

Welcome to Merrydale Childcare Centre! At our center, located in Brampton, ON, we focus on fostering cognitive development in toddlers through the Reggio Emilia approach.

The Reggio Emilia approach is centered around child-led learning, encouraging creativity, exploration, and critical thinking. These principles are essential in helping toddlers develop their cognitive and emotional skills in a nurturing environment. One of the ways we support cognitive development at Merrydale Childcare is through hands-on learning experiences. Toddlers are given the opportunity to explore a wide range of materials and activities that stimulate their curiosity and problem-solving skills. This hands-on approach not only enhances their cognitive abilities but also encourages them to express themselves creatively. Our dedicated educators play a crucial role in creating a supportive learning environment for toddlers. By observing and listening to the children, our teachers can tailor activities to each child's interests and abilities, further enhancing their cognitive development. Through our child-led curriculum, toddlers are encouraged to ask questions, make choices, and engage in meaningful conversations with their peers and educators. This not only strengthens their language skills but also helps them develop their critical thinking and social-emotional skills. At Merrydale Childcare, we believe that a stimulating environment, supportive educators, and child-led learning experiences are key in fostering cognitive development in toddlers. We are committed to providing a nurturing and enriching experience for every child in our care.
